The Crown of Creation

God sets his own image on the earth. He creates a being like himself. He creates a son.
"The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being." Gen. 2:7
It is nearing the end of the sixth day, the end of the Creator's great labor, as Adam steps forth, the image of God, the triumph of his work. He alone is prounouned the son of God. Nothing in creation even comes close. Picture Michelangelo's David. He is....magnificient. Truly, the masterpiece seems complete. And yet, the Master says that something is not good, not right. Something is missing...and that something is Eve.
"The Lord God cast a deep slumber on the human, and he slept, and He took one of his ribs and closed oved the flesh where it had been, and the Lord God built the rib He had taken from the human into a woman and He brought her to the human. Gen 2:21-23
She is the crescendo, the final, astonishing work of God. Woman. In one last flourish creation comes to a finish not with Adam, but with Eve. She is the Master's finishing touch. How we wish this were an illustrated book, and we could show you now some painting or sculpture that captures this, like the stunning Greek sculpture of the goddess Nike of Samothrace, the winged beauty, just alighting on the prow of a great ship, her beautiful form revealed through the thin veils that sweep around her. Eve is...breathtaking.
Given the way creation unfolds, how it builds to ever higher and higher works of art, can there be any doubt that Eve is the crown of creation? Not an afterthought. Not a nice addition like an ornament on a tree. She is God's final touch, his pie'ce de re'sistance. She fills a place in the world nothing and no one else can fill.

That is a rewarding thought, isn't it. Kinda like a needed pat on the back.
As usual your pictures are great also.
..
...The Crowns of Creation. I do believe this! Women often go beyond the call of duty to do what they can for others, selflessly giving of themselves.
Beautiful pics!

A wonderfully written post, with stunning pictures.
You have a fine new profile pic as well.
Women were the final touch on creation and have been putting the final touch on everything since!
He sure done good when He made all you women-folks. You are one beautiful family!
This post stirred my heart and made me feel even more blessed to be a woman. I love being feminine and girlie and being a wife and someday mother. For me it feels almost as if it's a privilege to be the Crown of Creation!
Your daughter's look so much like you! They are stunning!
If I didn't know better, I would think you are just trying to make everyone jealous with this blog window into the life of your happy, well-adjusted Christian family and your idyllic home.
Just kidding. Every blessing in Him.
:-)
Beautiful pictures! I swear, you and your daughters look like sisters!
FYI My 19 year-old kid sister Jenna, the model, is answering a casting call to visit your neck of the woods in Georgia, and work for Neiman Marcus at a fashion show. After middle of the road work, she just signed a big contract with Elite which trumps her previous agency contract. Elite discovered talent like Stephanie Seymour, Cindy Crawford, Cameron Diaz, Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, and Tyra Banks. My sister has been featured in several magazines and is now a covergirl. My kidsis has told me that statistically where she has gotten thus far is only accomplished by an infinitesimal fraction of 1% of the girls who have signed with her original middle-of-the-road agency. She is planning on relocating to Miami Florida soon.
This week she is in Atlanta on a casting call for Neiman Marcus and doing a runway show. She is almost as pretty as your daughters ;-)
Seriously, my hope is that she won't lose her way in the acclaim. I've been told girls can affirm high standards and still be top models, but the pressure to follow the way of the world is enormous. Any prayer for her is appreciated.
I feel I owe her my support, but maybe prayers more than anything. I have tried to reaffirm that she hold to high standards. At one time, I told her to quit modeling, though she insists she models regular ladies wear and is getting respectable work. She has modeled cosmetics, and I figure work centered around headshots is the beau ideal for any model. I hope she gets more work like that.
Though, I don't want to ever hear about Abercrombie giving her job! Ditch Fitch!
I love that from Captivating! The beauty of the Lord shines in and through you and the lives of your precious daughters. Thanks for being so inspiring and such a good blogging friend.
Blessings,
Back from Cooperstown - the boys finished in the top third - so we are soooooo proud of them!
